Daniel Bases, U.S. Public Finance Editor, Thomson Reuters
Daniel Bases is an award-winning print and broadcast correspondent and editor who for the last 25+ years has written and analyzed financial, foreign policy and general news. Daniel has worked for Thomson Reuters for the past 21 years on assignments in Latin America, Asia, Europe, the United States and United Nations. In addition to high level government and C-suite interviews, he teaches journalism courses for the Thomson Reuters Foundation and Sam Houston State University. He moderates high level panel discussions at Japan Society in New York, EACCNY, New York Society of Security Analysts, IFC/EMPEA and Thomson Reuters. Before joining Thomson Reuters he was a producer at CNN Business News. In 2012 he was the Reuters fencing correspondent at the London Olympic Games. He is a former president of the New York Financial Writers’ Association and was named a Knight-Bagehot Fellow for Business and Economic Journalism in 1999 and winner of its Christopher J. Welles Memorial Prize in 2015. He graduated from Columbia University with a degree in history, studied at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland and earned a master’s degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
