Shirley Birman is the Manager of Quantitative Consulting at Thomson Reuters StarMine. Shirley began working at StarMine in June 2007 in the quantitative consulting role, serving as the liaison between the sales team and the researchers. She has a B.S. in Systems Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and a Masters in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin. While working on her Master’s degree, Shirley focused on corporate finance research and in particular, examined the impact of corporate governance on firm performance. She also studied the effect of multiple PIPE (private investments in public equity) issuances on the characteristics of the deal (i.e. type, discount).
