Thomas Alonso is a Senior Research Analyst based in New York who covers global stock markets, with an emphasis on the U.S. He was previously an assistant portfolio manager at Foresters Financial where he helped oversee two funds with ~$2 billion in AUM. Prior to this he was Vice President of Investor Relations for a large Business Development Company. Tom has more than 10 years’ experience in both buy-side and sell-side equity research, including serving as Vice President Senior Analyst at Macquarie on its US Banks team, responsible for research coverage of a broad universe of US based banks. During his time on the sell-side, Tom was ranked #1 stock picker in Thrift & Mortgage Finance in the 2011 StarMine Analyst Awards. He has been quoted in the press, including The Wall Street Journal, and has appeared on CNBC. He was previously the financial services industry analyst for First Investors Management Company and a research associate at Janney Montgomery Scott, LLC covering banks. Tom received a BBA in Finance from Baruch College in 2000 and is a CFA charterholder.
