Consumer Confidence Increases Across Most Sub‐Indices

“This month’s Refinitiv/Ipsos Primary Consumer Sentiment Index sees increases as Americans adjust to the decline of Omicron,” Chris Jackson of Ipsos states. “The survey was in field during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. At this point, consumer confidence has not declined in light of any concerns over the economic impacts of the war at home.”

Jharonne Martis, Director of Consumer Research at Refinitiv, said, “Gas prices have been on the rise boosting sales for discounters selling fuel. The Refinitiv data shows that fuel rewards at Kroger are attracting new customers. Likewise, analysts polled by Refinitiv have been revising their Same Store Sales estimates upward for Costco, Walmart’s Sam’s Club and BJ’s Wholesale Club for the current quarter.”
