Consumer Confidence Continues to Show Stability

“November’s Refinitiv/Ipsos Primary Consumer Sentiment Index finds American consumer confidence remains in a holding pattern” James Diamond of Ipsos states. “This marks the third consecutive month of stability in the main index, which continues to be considerably lower than where it was to begin the year. That being said, perceptions of job stability and prospects continues its now two‐month trend upward.”

Jharonne Martis, Director of Consumer Research at Refinitiv, said, “Accordingly, the Refinitiv U.S. Retail and Restaurant Earnings index is showing a 1.6% estimated earnings growth rate for the third quarter of 2022, suggesting that consumers remain cautious in their spending amidst higher inflation.”
