On the day a new U.S. President is inaugurated, U.K. -based Seneca Investment Managers  CIO, Peter Elston discusses how political and macro events in 2016 affected his asset allocation decisions. He examines what opportunities and threats investors might encounter in 2017.

He also outlines Seneca’s unique value approach to multi-asset investing, the outlook for sustainability of income and the importance of technology in today’s investment environment.

Having joined the team as global investment strategist in November 2014, Peter was appointed chief investment officer in April 2015 and to the board of the company in January 2016.

Peter was appointed as a fund manager on the Seneca Global Income & Growth Trust plc in March 2016. He has previously worked in investment roles at Mercury and Aberdeen, largely based in Asia.

Peter graduated in Oriental Studies from Trinity College, Cambridge in 1988. He enjoys running, photography and science.
