Lipper has been well represented at the 2014 Shorex Wealth Management Conference which was held at the Westbury Hotel in Mayfair, London on October 9, 2014.

Shorex is a specialist media group for the wealth management industry and the high-end luxury market and they organise a series of annual conferences at European centres including London, Geneva and Paris.
The conference delegates consisted of 200 wealth managers/ private client advisors for European high net worth individuals and the day-long conference consisted of a series of presentations and panel sessions by various wealth management and investment market related experts. Topics included US & EU sanctions against Russia, CFC rules in emerging markets, investing in gold, investing in China, economic citizenship, new tools for family offices, and the World Wealth Report key findings.
Detlef Glow, Head of Lipper EMEA Research, presented a 30 minute session on “Smart Beta Strategies – an Overview” which outlined factor exposures of these strategies and explained the risk/ return profile of the indices. His presentation was illustrated with performance data and fund flow analytics from the Lipper for Investment Management software and the Lipper FundFlow database.

Head of Lipper UK & Ireland Research, Jake Moeller was invited to chair the morning session of the conference and provided its opening remarks. He discussed the challenges faced by wealth advisers in light of increased regulatory scrutiny, fee compression and an on-going low interest rate environment and outlined some of the potential opportunities this provided.
