Market Performance
Performance was mixed in May across all regions and countries on an equal-weight basis. Taiwan, Developed Europe, and Japan had the strongest performance with prices rising by 15.1%, 3.5%, and 3.4%, respectively. Korea and Brazil saw prices fall by 7.9% and 6.4%, respectively.
Long-Short Performance
Price Momentum (PMO) exhibited the broadest strength, with positive top-bottom decile spreads across most regions and countries, followed by Earnings Quality (EQ). Taiwan was the standout market for PMO, with a record-high decile spread of 21.4 percentage points (ppt), marking a sixth consecutive month of positive results driven by strong performance from Technology stocks, particularly Electronic Components and Semiconductors. Korea recorded back-to-back months of EQ decile spreads exceeding 8 ppt for the first time.
