In Q2 2019, the overall performance of CPFIS-included funds increased 1.90% on average. Specifically, CPFIS-included unit trusts increased 1.86% and CPFIS-included ILPs rose 1.92%. All asset types, including equity (+1.94%), mixed-asset funds (+2.04%), bond (+1.61%) and money market funds (+0.34%) achieved positive return. During the same period, MSCI World TR USD and FTSE WGBI Index rallied 4.08% and 3.45%, while MSCI AC Asia ex Japan posted negative return of 0.67%.
For the one-year period, the overall performance of CPFIS-included funds also achieved 2.21% growth on average. CPFIS-included unit trusts rose 1.81% on the year and CPFIS-included ILPs went up 2.46%. Meanwhile, the key benchmark MSCI World TR USD and FTSE WGBI TR soared 6.11% and 4.67% respectively, while MSCI AC Asia ex Japan Index fell 0.95%. For the same period, bond (+4.77%) fund outperformed the mixed-asset (+2.89%), money market (+1.37%) and equity (+1.36%) fund offering.
For the three-year period, CPFIS-included funds posted a positive return of 26.23% on average, accounted for a gain of 28.28% from CPFIS-included unit trusts and 24.91% from CPFIS-included ILPs. During the same period, MSCI World TR USD and MSCI AC Asia ex Japan Index rallied 42.72% and 40.51% respectively. Equity type was the lead gainer with growth of 33.67% and bond portfolio also posted positive return of 5.32% on average.
The Investment Management Association of Singapore (IMAS) and Life Insurance Association of Singapore (LIAS) have appointed Lipper to monitor the performance of all unit trusts and investment-linked insurance products included under the Central Provident Fund Investment Scheme (CPFIS).
