Fund Manager Chat: Jonathan Davies – UBS Asset Management

As the world begins to digest the result of U.S. Presidential election, Jonathan Davies, lead portfolio manager of the UBS Currency Allocation Return Strategy, discusses the potential impact on markets.

He examines how this election outcome relates to currencies, other macro-movers of 2016 and what investment opportunities or threats might manifest themselves moving into 2017.

About Jonathan Davies

Jonathan Davies is Head of Currency within UBS AM Multi Asset team, based in London. He is responsible for setting currency strategy both as an overlay component of global portfolios and in Global Tactical Asset Allocation (GTAA) strategies. He also manages UK Balanced portfolios and a standalone currency strategy.

Jonathan is  chair of the UK Investment Committee, which has oversight on all investment business done in the UK. He is also a member of GIS’s global Asset Allocation and Currency Committee.

Jonathan joined UBS Investment Bank in 1992 as a bond analyst in the London office, specialising in European bond markets. In 1996 he joined the fixed income division of the firm’s asset management arm in Zurich, where he had responsibility for managing global bond portfolios and co-ordinating the investment views of the team. After the UBS / Swiss Bank Corporation merger in 1998, Jonathan moved to GIS to take up his current role of currency strategist.

Prior to joining UBS, Jonathan held positions at the Institute for Fiscal Studies and the Financial Services Authority. He has 24 years of industry experience, he has an MA from Oxford University, MSc from University of London (Birkbeck) and is a CFA charterholder.
