What’s Shaping Equity Markets?

by Katherine Massie.

Thomson Reuters recently teamed up with The Trade to record a series of TradeCasts with its editorial team. The latest recordings offer insights into key areas helping shape the equities markets, including Best Execution issues under MiFID II and block trading.  Chris Hollands, Head of Equities, Europe, Thomson Reuters, explores these topics to help break down what they mean for buy-side traders.

Among his insights, Chris believes that the scope and impact of Best Execution obligations under MiFID II is unquestionably set to increase with the inclusion of the non-equity asset classes and a greater responsibility placed on the buy-side to measure, monitor and manage its best execution policy.  In regards to block trading, Chris says it is starting to make a resurgence and to facilitate the discovery of block trading opportunities, there will be greater use of IOIs and an increase in the buy-side’s trust in their usage.

For more insight, we invite you to listen to the full TradeCast recordings.
