STOXX 600 Earnings Outlook – Dec. 6, 2016

European Aggregate Estimates and Revisions

  • Third quarter earnings are expected to decline 5.0% from Q3 2015. Excluding the Energy sector, earnings are expected to decline 2.0%.
  • Third quarter revenue is expected to decline 4.0% from Q3 2015. Excluding the Energy sector, earnings are expected to decline 2.4%.
  • 266 companies in the STOXX 600 have reported earnings to date for Q3 2016. Of these, 57.5% reported results exceeding analyst estimates. In a typical quarter 49% beat analyst EPS estimates.
  • 299 companies in the STOXX 600 have reported revenue to date for Q3 2016. Of these, 46.5% reported revenue above analyst estimates. In a typical quarter 54% beat analyst revenue estimates.
  • The forward P/E ratio for the STOXX 600 is 18.3.
