Consumer Confidence Falls Sharply To Begin 2025

WASHINGTON, DC – The LSEG/Ipsos Primary Consumer Sentiment Index for January 2025 is
at 54.4. Fielded from December 20, 2024 – January 3, 2025*, the Index is down 3.2 points from
last month.

* The majority of this month’s fieldwork was completed prior to Congress passing a spending bill that avoided a government shutdown.

The index is down significantly after reaching its highest point since October 2021 last month. However, it is still more than a point higher than its reading from this time last year.
